Stargate Charter School is Hiring a Section 504 Coordinator Near Thornton, CO

Description

Stargate School is currently seeking to hire a 504 Coordinator to provide services to students at our K-12 campus. This is a full time (1.0 FTE) position.

The role of the Section 504 Coordinator is to fulfill the responsibilities of the Section 504 Coordinator for grades K-12.This is a weekly full time, 10 month position and the salary range is from $76,508 - $112,401 depending on experience and education level. Benefits include employer paid medical, dental, STD, LTD, life insurance, and paid time off; other optional benefits plans, like vision, life and AD&D insurance are available and paid by the employee. (Please note benefits are subject to change without notice.)

Reports to:

  • Director of Student Services

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Follow and implement federal, state, and district mandates, processes, and procedures for identifying students in need of accommodations and services under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Provide ongoing training and consultation to teachers, staff and parents/guardians in determining and documenting accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents/guardians, and other professionals to support student learning.
  • Schedule and facilitate K-12 Section 504 Plan meetings to include initial eligibility determination, annual reviews, and re-evaluations.
  • Develop and write Section 504 Plans.
  • Maintain files of students with Section 504 protection and accommodation plans. Ensure that FERPA/HIPAA confidentiality requirements are met.
  • Attend district-provided Student Support Services/504 related trainings/meetings.
  • Understand the unique needs of students who are twice exceptional.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations with students and parents 
  • Follow and positively support guidelines as outlined in Stargate Staff Handbook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to your job. Includes adapting to and mastering new systems applications and processes as implemented by the district/school.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Stargate Policies and building and department procedures.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Operating knowledge of district/school technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment within two months of entering the position.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, e-mail, etc.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

  • B.A. or B.S. college degree required
  • Teaching and/or administrator experience in a public, charter, or private setting is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 504 Plan assessment, development, and implementation.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Valid Colorado teaching license.
